Bite-size Activities

Clap It Out
After reading the story once, re-read it together and challenge your child to clap their hands anytime they hear a pair of rhyming words. This activity cues your child to actively listen for rhyming sounds and gives them an active role to play. Plus, when it comes to early literacy, repetition is key!

Dance and Prance
Have a rhyming dance party! Start by saying a simple word from the story, like "tree." Ask your child to think of a word that rhymes (has the same ending sounds), such as "bee." When they come up with a rhyming word, everyone does a silly dance move together to celebrate the rhyme. Keep the party going with different words like "moon" (they might say "spoon") or "cat" ( they might say "hat").
